Bioinformatics Tools for Structural Proteomics
Jaime Prilusky

With the objective of reducing the time and effort needed to reach
"solved structure status" from a target sequence, we have developed a set
of tools to identify and estimate potential sequence features, and to
highlight properties and characteristics of the target. All tools are
freely available at http://www.weizmann.ac.il/ISPC/biotools.html and
accessible both in interactive and web-service modes.

Target Identity: SeqFacts produces an identity profile of the target,
including identification, analysis, characterization and annotation,
integrating results from local tools and from remote web services.

Foldability: FoldIndex is a dynamic and interactive program that
estimates the local and general probability that a given protein
sequence will be intrinsically unfolded or folded.

Expression system selection: suggestES takes the protein sequence
provided and scans it against a large database of protein sequences
expressed in various expression systems.

Data awareness: SeqAlert and RecentReferences will periodically compare
your sequence(s) against worldwide databases and report scientific
activity and recent publications on proteins detected as being related
to yours.

Most of these tools are related to or based on OCA, the browser-database
for protein structure/function, see: http://bip.weizmann.ac.il/oca-bin/ocamain
